“We will not hide them from their children, but will tell a future generation the praiseworthy acts of the Lord, his might, and the wondrous works he has performed.”
Psalm 78:4, CSB
If we are to be faithful to Jesus Christ, we must pass our faith on to the next generation. One key way that we do this as a church is through our youth ministry. We are blessed to be able to employ a part-time youth ministry to lead that ministry, serving and guiding the next generation. Nelson Hudson served faithfully as our Youth Minister until God called him to seminary and chaplaincy in Abilene. During his tenure, our youth group grew from an average attendance of 5 students to 15 students on Wednesdays nights.
When Nelson departed our fellowship, we needed an interim Youth Minister. I believe the Lord led me to Anthony Castro, who was already faithfully serving as a deacon in this
congregation. On my recommendation, the Personnel and Youth Committees voted to call
Anthony as Interim Youth Minister, and he has served exceedingly well in this role.
We must now continue the process of finding the right person to serve as our Youth Minister long-term. It may be Anthony, or it may be someone else. That is ultimately for you, as a
congregation, to decide. The process, as spelled out in our bylaws, begins with the election of a Search Committee. The Nominating Committee has recommended 6 church members for this purpose: Sofie Doolittle, Kevin Langdon,Makinzzie Martinez, Ken McCool, Susan Monk, and Ashley Shaw.
If elected by the church body, these 6 people will seek the Lord’s person to be our next Youth Minister and return to the church with a recommendation when they have reached a
consensus. Please keep them in your prayers as we seek the Lord's will for this next chapter in the life of our church and its youth.
