“He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death.”
Ephesians 2:16, CSB
One of the highlights of the church health survey was seeing that we are 100% united in our belief that “The Bible is the word of God, perfect as it was originally written.” This means that we have a great foundation to build and grow upon, because we all accept the authority of Scripture.
One of the concerns many of you expressed was a lack of unity in the congregation. For instance, 44% (14 out of 32) agreed that we have unresolved conflict, 31% were unsure, and only 25% disagreed.
If we are to move forward in God’s will, we must do so together. We should not expect God’s blessing on a divided church (1 Cor. 1:10). We do not have to workplaces, agree about what should have been in previous years, but only to move forward together in love.
fter prayerfully considering your feedback, I believe the Lord has led me to preach through the book of Ephesians. This majestic letter focuses on the work of Jesus Christ, which brings peace. Jesus’ sacrifice brings peace with God for all who trust in Him. God takes all who trust in Jesus - people from every tribe and language under the sun - and unites them in Christ. This leads them to have peace with one another as well.
The first 3 chapters focus on our relationship with God and our fellow believers, while chapters 4-6 focus on the practical implications of that relationship in our homes, neighborhoods, churches, workplaces and more.
I plan for this to be a 13-week series. I pray that it will place our focus on the gospel of Jesus and its application to our lives. Our goal as always is to know Jesus more and more so that we may make Him known in our community.
